cis- and trans-1,3,5-Cyclohexanetricarboxylic acid is a crystalline solid that belongs to the class of carboxylic acids. The molecular modeling and crystallography of this compound show that it has an imine nitrogen and hydrogen bond. Thermal denaturation experiments have shown that cis- and trans-1,3,5-Cyclohexanetricarboxylic acid undergoes a conformational change when heated in deionized water. This compound also has protonation properties at the carboxylate group. cis- and trans-1,3,5-Cyclohexanetricarboxylic acid has been found to form supramolecular complexes with anions in solution. This compound also exhibits functional groups such as carbonyl and hydroxyl groups.
